Eating In Thailand

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

The first time that I am in Thailand since 1973. I was a young soldier in the army of the United States and in Bangkok was my first place of employment. I was there for 18 months and my first meal in America was a Big Mac, fries and cola.

Times have changed and the locations for fast food dot Thailand campaign. Where to McDonalds KFC Pizza Hut is everywhere. They are not only in major cities and tourist town, but in smaller places such as Phitsanulok and Khon Kaen.

Although I am a fast food junkie in the states, but in general, Thailand, I tend to eat the local cuisine. Indeed, it is in Thailand snack.

I prefer to eat on the street, the vendors, which allows you to record in less than a minute. And, it is much cheaper and taste the Burger King.

But if I live in Thailand for three or four weeks, I started to sell and burgers, fried chicken or pizza. And for my girlfriend Thailand is a special treat to eat in one of the American “restaurants.”

If I were in Khon Kaen, I eat seafood in local restaurants. Bar-B-Que shrimp with vegetables and rice is everything I need for dinner. My love for oysters and a salad of papaya, and everything is good.

If we are in the room and decides to stay for a DVD movie, loves it to nominate some pizza for the pizza and chicken wings. I’m getting a pizza, and they eat the wings.

The breakfasts are usually standard eggs and rice, maybe a sausage or two. Sometimes there will be Thai soup or a noodle dish pad thai. From time to time, as we saw in a hotel, the strangers, and they have an “American” breakfast.

Lunch are snacks for me. I like the chicken or BBQ pork on a stick with some sticky rice. But if my daughter is a good mood, she is more than KFC and retrieving spiced chicken sandwiches. And of course it’s me, cheese and dessert for cornflowers.

We both benefit from Khon Kaen restaurants around the lake or rivers. You have these small, with cabins with beautiful views. The food and service is excellent, and some have an orchestra plays country music in Thailand.

Thailand has the best of both worlds. You get everything from a pizza a cheeseburger, french fries or rice and noodles. Great food and great prices. Another reason why I love in Thailand.
