Extending SIM Card Usage In Thailand

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

I travel to Thailand 3 or 4 times a year and have a local mobile phone with a lot of money. The local calls are dirt cheap and long-distance calls in the U.S. are cheap.

Everything you need is an unlocked GSM tri-band or quad-band phone Thai SIM card. On the SIM card or subscriber identity module is that low blood platelet count on the chip of the size of your overview of the battery of your cell.

SIMS can be in almost every country of the trip and it only takes a few seconds to the exchange.

The problem with mobile carriers is they lock the SIM card to a carrier. So, you have to do blocking of a relatively simple task, which only costs a few dollars. You can try, from your service provider to unlock the SIM card, but you’ll have the chance, a long-standing customer to do a story unlock.

The easiest way to overcome is to buy a mobile phone in Asia. They are cheap and are not locked in the carrier. New and second-hand phone is available and the prices are very reasonable.

The only real problem I had is the same phone number in Thailand after the return. How it works in Thailand is that you can put your SIM card, then more money to him, you go into the 7 / 11 or Family Mart and buy a small credit card, phone card. You scrape a protective display a series of numbers that you enter in your phone. Regardless of the name you bought baht, you will automatically be applied to the SIM card. The company must also be longer on the SIM card is valid.

Thailand, 300 baht (about 9 U.S. dollars) to add your phone, you will receive an additional month use. My problem was with a sufficient amount of months on my SIM card in my phone for my next trip. My travels will be three months, six months or sometimes. So I needed to ensure that there is enough time on my SIM card.

This trip, I have learned to overcome them. Is a service provided by 1-2-Tender and everything to do, to have someone with a wealth of months on their cell phones can transfer that to you.

My girlfriend has a package of months on his phone, she just called * 140 and follow the instructions for the transfer of time per month. I had to add his 8 months for my SIM card and he had only a few minutes to swap. You can choose English and Thai, and instructions are very easy to follow. It suffices to recall that when they invite to the “validity”, which means how long the card is valid.

I’ve also noticed that I have the same number for the exchange of money from my mobile phone on their own. I had a lot of money on my phone, because I try to increase month about 1000 Baht on my phone in the hope that I have enough time for me until my last trip.

In the past, I want to buy phone cards for him, it would have the time and money on their phone to me when I’m back in America. These work even better. You will receive the money in its SIM card and I had the time. No doubt a win-win situation.
